when it is that time of year for beautiful ripe strawberries, there is no better way to celebrate than by picking them yourself. oak haven farms is in sorrento fl and is one of my favorite places to pick strawberries. they have a small shop at the farms which has various other goodies for sale (like jams and jellies) as well as complimentary strawberry wine tasting. they even have a small kitchen which makes out of this world home-made strawberry milkshakes. once i get my bounty of strawberries home, i usually like to make strawberry shortcake. depending on the size of the bounty i also make strawberry jam or strawberry pie.
all you can eat pancakes-
i love going to the old spanish sugar mill for all you can eat pancakes. you have to go to ponce de leon springs to get there and usually have to wait for this very busy restaurant. they have griddles built into the tables where you then get all you can eat pancakes for around $5. now coffee and the amazing sliced bacon will cost you extra (along with the toppings) but it is far worth it. syrup choices include: maple, honey, and molasses. i highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for an authentic old world florida experience.
